Monument to the Heroes
of The Restoration of Santiago.
It situated
to the entrance of the city of Santiago, has an approximate
height of 70 m.is a monument located in Santiago de los Caballeros,
in Dominican Republic. The "Monument to the Peace of Trujillo",
as originally was called, was erected by orders of the tyrant
Trujillo in its honor. It was designed by the architect Henry
Gazón Bona. Its construction in the year of the first
centennial of the National Independence is initiated (1944),
being given its first peck April 30, the Presided year by the
Governing one Isabel Mayer, and remaining concluded the same
year to commemorate the 100 years of the Dominican independence.
At the fallen of Trujillo, it was given the name of Monument
to the Heroes of the Restoration, that conserves to date. It
is located in the top of a hill in the part this of the city.
The Monument is a tower of some 70 meters of high, cover partly
of marble. In its interior there are mural commemorative of
the famous Spanish painter Watches Zanetti, and a stair with
365 steps that arrives to the stop. Its ornamentation is constituted
by a vault cornices series, in harmony with all the work being
completed the assembly with elegant columns ionic style with
flats and bases of marble, besides the famous lamps of rock
crystal. |
